FEDERAL TRANSIT SUBSIDY AVAILBLE FOR YOU!
Most Federal Government employees are eligible for transit subsidy of $265 per month that can be used for vanpooling. This includes all DOD, BOP, and VAMC employees.

WHAT IS VANPOOLING?
Vanpools are an ride sharing arrangement similar to a carpool, but on a larger scale with concurrent savings in fuel and vehicle operating costs. The vans are provided by Ride EZ and the riders pay a monthly fee to participate. This fee is often covered in full by the transit subsidy provided by the government.
The key concept is that people share the ride from home or one or more common meeting locations and travel together to a common destination or work center.
Incentives from local or federal transportation authorities are there to offset cost.

Tony Taylor retired from the United States Army in 2003 and immediately began a civilian government job at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Tony formed the first vanpool to Fort Belvoir to alleviate the stress and costs associated with the 230 mile round trip.
Tony operated the vanpool for 6 years and gained knowledge about what makes for a harmonious vanpool experience. During this time, Tony was instrumental in promoting the concept of vanpooling at Fort Belvoir, and by the time he left in 2009, he had helped form 4 additional vanpools to Fort Belvoir from the Richmond area.
